Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what data the Mroad mobile app ("Mroad", "the app", "we") collects, and why and how we use it. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
What we collect
Location data. Mroad uses your device's location to calculate how far you are from fuel stations and local favorites belonging to the brands you've chosen. This happens in two ways:
- Foreground location: while the app is open, to show you nearby stations.
- Background location: even while the app is closed or the screen is locked, so voice alerts can be delivered on time — this permission is requested separately and explicitly.
Notification permission. We display a persistent notification to show that background tracking is active (a requirement enforced by Android).
Preferences stored on your device. Preferences like your chosen brands, country, and voice settings are stored only on your device (AsyncStorage). This information is not automatically sent to our servers.
How we use your data
Location data is used solely to find the nearest station or local favorite and trigger a voice alert, by comparing your device's current location with station coordinates in our database. We don't use this data for advertising, profiling, or sharing with third parties.
Third-party services
We use Supabase (a database hosting service) to query station and local-favorite data. During a query, your device's current location is sent to Supabase's servers solely to answer that query; this data isn't stored permanently or linked to your identity.
Data retention
We don't store your location data on our servers — each query is processed instantly and not retained. Preferences stored on your device are deleted when you uninstall the app.
Withdrawing permission
You can change or withdraw location and notification permissions at any time from your phone's Settings > Apps > Mroad > Permissions. If you withdraw location permission, Mroad's voice alert feature will stop working.
Children's privacy
Mroad is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from users under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When there are material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
